Prepare the glass by coating the rim with lemon juice. If using a fresh lemon, brush the lemon wedge along the rim to coat it.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, simple syrup, triple sec, and lemon juice with ice. Shake to mix.
Pour mixed drink into prepared glass. Top with optional garnish of lemon wedge or twist.
