This southwest twist on a classic margarita uses prickly pear (desert pear) syrup instead of agave or simple syrup for a rich flavor and deep color.
Prickly Pear Margarita
Servings: 1 drink
Equipment
- shaker
- margarita glass or rocks glass
Ingredients
- 2 oz tequila blanco
- ½ oz triple sec
- 1 oz prickly pear syrup
- ½ oz lime juice
- lime wedge (for rim & optional garnish)
- tajín (for rim)
- ice
Instructions
- Add the tequila, triple sec, prickly pear syrup, and lime juice to a shaker with ice and shake for 10 seconds.
- Prepare the glass by rubbing the lime wedge along the rim. Dip the rim into the tajín to coat it. Add ice to the glass.
- Strain the mixture into the glass. Add optional lime wedge garnish.
Notes
- I like to use the Monin prickly pear syrup for this cocktail. It has a deep purple hue and sweet taste.
