Equipment

  • shaker
  • highball glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • 1 ½ oz grapefruit juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 1 ½ oz club soda
  • lime wedge (for rim)
  • flaky salt (for rim)
  • ice
  • optional: grapefruit wedge garnish

Instructions

  • Add the tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice and shake for 10 seconds.
  • Prepare the glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim and dipping the rim into the salt to coat it. Add ice to the glass.
  • Strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Top with an optional grapefruit wedge garnish if desired.

Notes

  • Fresh juice from squeezing a grapefruit can help this drink stand out. 
  • If you have grapefruit soda on hand, you can replace the grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and club soda with 3 ½ oz grapefruit soda. Add the grapefruit soda to the final glass after shaking the tequila and lime juice.
